Ever wonder what goes into creating an animated movie?

Learn from professional artists and create your own animation in the process!
This hands-on course introduces the world of animation that combines artistic and technical skills to help students expand their minds and think outside the box through creative thinking and problem-solving.
Creatively, the course includes creative exercises that will spark new ideas and ways to create in every lesson. Each class includes hands-on exercises that focus on the topic for the week. Students will create flipbooks, storyboards, design their characters, sculpt those characters, make them move, and more!
Technically, the course gives students an inside look at the key steps to making your film, featuring professional industry artists to give an inside look at what goes into making what you see or play on the screen. Each stage will reveal different aspects of the process that will open the student’s eyes and minds to other ways to think and create using artistic and technical brains. They will encounter technical challenges to their creative vision and learn how to problem-solve around these obstacles. Exposing students to areas of the creation they never even knew existed.
Coolest part? Students will leave with a final project, their own animation to be proud of and share with the world.
Students will walk away with new knowledge/skills:
- A new creative outlet that naturally combines STEM & ART.
- High-level knowledge and a new perspective of the key steps in the animation pipeline.
- Skills to create their animations.
- Creative thinking and confidence in how to approach any future projects (not limited to animation!)
Students will end the course having created:
- Creative exercises that demonstrate their new skills in storytelling, design, modeling (sculpting), rigging, animation, lighting,
and more.
- A final animation to showcase!

Passionate about unleashing creativity and empowering individuals to explore their artistic paths, Jasmine Katatikarn is a Creative Leader, the CEO of the Academy of Animated Art, Artist, and a Coach/Educator. With a deep-rooted belief that no one should be "in the closet" creatively, Jasmine is dedicated to providing resources and fostering a supportive community for individuals to discover and express their creative potential.

Jasmine's journey in the creative realm began with a B.A. in economics/art history from Vassar College, followed by a Master of Science in Digital Imaging and Design degree from NYU. Her expertise spans various domains, including 3D medical visualization, visual effects, and feature animated film production. With over a decade of experience at esteemed studios like Blue Sky Studios, she has honed her skills as a Senior Lighting Technical Director, contributing to acclaimed projects such as Spies in Disguise, Ferdinand, Peanuts, Rio, Epic, Ice Age series, Ghost Town, and Nanny Diaries.

Currently managing the Tech Artist team at Amazon Imaging, Jasmine combines her passion for technology and art to empower individuals in their creative journeys further. With her extensive expertise and unwavering commitment to fostering creativity, Jasmine strives to create a world where everyone can confidently explore their creative aspirations.
